Colleen Haskett
Patient Partner
Colleen Haskett has been an active volunteer with the CHWO Family Advisory Committee offering patient and family perspectives. She has been a guest speaker at the It Doesn’t Have to Hurt Conference (LHSC), at Comfortability Workshops (Parent Sessions) and during the rollout of the Comfort Promise in her role as a Family Resource Facilitator with the Paediatric Family Resource Center. She is currently supporting LHSC’s pandemic response as a Perimeter Screening Site Lead with accountabilities to training, developing standards of practice, and adherence to visitor policy.
She is a parent to three young adults; two of which live with chronic pain. She has lived experience as a strong advocate in supporting their needs navigating both the education and health care systems. With a strong connection to the Chronic Pain Team at CHWO, she successfully supported the transition of both of her children from children’s care to adult care – one interprovincially to post-secondary school in Halifax and the other direct to the work force – recognizing their very different needs.
Colleen is a Patient Partner with Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) and recognizes the need for ongoing patient engagement to support critical efforts with knowledge translation. She is passionate about health equity, diversity and inclusion and regularly speaks to the impact of chronic pain on varying patient populations through small group discussions, collaboration with key stake holders and community partners.
